Valerie is a Graduate of Campbell High School and was one of the original cast members when Marriott’s Great America opened in Santa Clara in 1976. As the original Sylvester the Cat, she caught the attention of choreographer Jim Bates who made her has assistant for both the Santa Clara and Chicago parks in 1977. She was also a dancer in “Hello Dolly” with Janis Paige for San Jose Civic Light Opera.
Valerie’s choreographic achievements are SJCLO’s “Jesus Christ Superstar”, Sunnyvale Community Theater’s “Godspell”, Santa Clara University’s “The Hostage”, Pepperdine University’s “Where’s Charlie?”, San Jose Children’s Musical Theater’s “Gypsy”, and as director/choreographer for Campbell Summer Theater’s “The Boyfriend”.
She attended San Jose State University as a Theater Arts major and finished her education at UC Irvine as a dance major. While in the Los Angeles area, she danced in a television special for the grand opening of the Roaring 20’s section of Knott’s Berry Farm starring Bobby Van.
Valerie taught jazz for the dance department of San Jose State University for the1995 fall semester.
Valerie started dancing at the studio in 1966. This year marks her 36th year as an instructor/choreographer. She is married to Duncan Graham and has 2 grown children, Chris and Alyssa. She is excited to be back teaching at the studio after a 3 year absence and would like to thank the studio” family” for their love and support.
